Connections
Hi
Let me introduce to you the Westwood Shores' Communications Network and Connections.
On behalf of the Communications committee, Welcome to the screening of the Westwood Shores Communications network. Serving the Westwood Shores community, the Communications Network helps you as an owner to keep abreast of all the latest news and happenings and provide a fantastic reference resource.
The committee gathers together information and events throughout Westwood Shores to enable a more connected community! Expressly administered to be a verifiable assemblage of all current community news and events with the goal of maturing into a consummate reference library. Westwood Shores Connections is provided by the Westwood Shores POA Communications Committee.
The communication committee’s mission is to facilitate an effective means of communication of past, present, and future information encompassing all Westwood Shores respective entities for informing, educating and engaging the community. The committee uses visual, written, and verbal formats for stronger messaging and designs communications to break down into a range from expansive to concise and spotlighted for more effective owner usage.
The Communications Committee works under the direction of the Board of Trustees, the Community Manager, and the Communications Network Manager. The Communications Network Manager is under the direct supervision of the Community Manager and the Board of Trustees to oversee the communications network.
The Communications Committee's mission requires members’ responsibilities to be an on-going, and on-demand fulfillment. The membership requires both non-tech and tech savvy members for all areas of the Communications Network. Roles are Editor in Chief (Chair), News Managing Editor (Co Chair), Copy Editor (Secretary), Event / Announcements Manager, Network Effectiveness Manager, Technician Manager, and Skilled Artisan. If this interests you in being a part of the Communications committee, we are always recruiting to add members and would welcome the discussion.
So, your big question, you ask, What's the network got for me?
We want to try and answer that question both for you personally and as a community leader. To start with the basics,
First, All information on the Communications Network falls into 5 source categories, the POA ADMIN, Board of Trustees, Westwood Shores POA COMMITTEE, Westwood Shores ORGANIZATIONS, and Community Groups. All listings must meet POA Communications policy and be verified for its accuracy from the lead for that group before it can be developed as a listing.
All information that is viewable without logging in is already out in some form and/or location as public information. The problem is it is scattered or not readily known to be verified information. The Communications committee's goal is not to rewrite, opine, or discredit an outside source but to bring all verifiable information into the Network or make accessible under one Hub, Center, Portal, or whatever you want to call it. We call it Connections!
Second. As part of the network, one of Connections website’s goals is to be a one Stop, information Shop for the Westwood Shores community resident.
Third. Information is Always At Your Fingertips on the right side of the Connections site and Westwood Shores app as an expandable/retractable column or drawer which consists of listings of the most requested information such as Important numbers, Calendar, linked Mud Alerts, Book A Tee Time, Westwood Shores related Facebook groups, Westwood Shores app download options, and a great list of other helpful resources.
Fourth. No Login Required for Information on the network sites. 99.99% of the information on Connections is public information and therefore does not need a login to access. Explore and if everything you want is at your fingertips then don’t worry about the login.
Fifth. Never miss out on information again. The Connections site and the Westwood Shores App notifications keep you informed of events and important dates. Yes, to see these notifications, you have to log in. Emailed announcements, since received in your own email program, do not require a log in, but if you are Logged in, they always appear in the account. How that benefits you is, when you, for whatever reason, don’t see that email in your own email program, no matter what, it is in your Connections account! No troublesome spam catcher to worry about.
There are several major communications areas within the Connections website and app, located in the center column. Each communications area’s information is attributed to one or more of those 5 source categories. Also, included are highlighted calendar events, announcements, hot topics, recognition and Service to the community.
Westwood Shores Services catalogs daily, monthly, and yearly services provided to the community. Each listing provides pertinent, up-to-date operational data and is also cross-referenced in the Tags and calendar for easy, daily reference and planning.
Feedback is in the form of randomly published quick polls to provide opportunities in offering your thoughts on a variety of topics. Results may be shared but no names. Control of notifications are available in your profile notification preferences.
Messages from the Ambassador Council reflect events and untold stories of Westwood Shores, highlighting excitement and pride in our community. The Council is made up of owners with a love for the community and a willingness to share their stories and skills to report to all of us. Interested, please see a communications committee member!
Hot Topics, highlighting burning topics at the time on matters of importance to the community. If available, reference materials will be enabled to add clarity. This is not a discussion venue but an offering of pertinent background information only to feed discussions that take place in other venues as owners address what concerns them.
Hall of Fame is devoted to a place of honor for POA recognized individuals. There is a gallery and a monthly spotlight on the front page.
Activity Groups catalogs daily, monthly, and yearly activities provided in the community. Each listing provides pertinent, up-to-date operational data referenced in the calendar for easy daily reference and planning.
A Calendar that lists all community events and services with details included. Notifications are sent out by Westwood Shores community events days before the event date. No emails are sent for sitewide events. Notification preferences can be set by the user under the system Profile account options. Notifications are pushed out right to your device to help you always be in the know. Rest assured though; you are in the driver's seat in control of those notifications.
POA Announcements are compiled from prior POA eblasts. This provides a complete reference library of announcements in one convenient spot to access all POA eblasts. No digging through your multitude of emails to find, no caught in your spam, or even worse, never making it to your mailbox. Notifications are available and bypass that nasty email trap altogether.
The Westwood Shores Connections app for Apple and Android gives owners the ability to access the Connections site on the go.
"In Loving Memory" honors the passing of Westwood Shores owners. This is a compiled list of previous residents. If logged in, tributes to our passing friends can be expressed with comments. Approval will be required though to ensure respectful thoughts are posted.
POA Articles are excerpts from official POA documents and committee reports that break down the POA regulations and rules into bitesize bits of information pertaining to a specific topic for easy references with the use of Tags’
Tags are a way of bringing together different content topics and materials which share a common theme - they therefore form a connection between them that helps with linking topics across multiple sections in Connections.
As a leader and influencer in the community, the committee needs you to join with us to be a community ambassador for the Communications Network and, if suitable, take part in the opportunity to serve your organization as a Community Group listing in Connections.
An electronic form is provided for you to communicate requests for your group for placement or updating of information within the Network. Report anytime but try to provide at least a two-week advance notice for a scheduled event.
Need guidance, reference the “Now How Do I Do That” or FAQ documents in the site footer, file a “Contact Us” resource or personally contact a communications committee member.
