With spring here and summer just around the corner, this is a great time to remind everyone of the Westwood Shores guidelines for use of our beautiful inland lakes.
All inland lakes have designated access points, marked as either A or B on the attached map. “A” access points are for pedestrian access only. Motorized vehicles, including golf carts, should stop at that point, and only foot traffic is allowed beyond it. “B” access points allow both boat launch and pedestrian access. Motorized vehicles may proceed only to the boat launch area.
To help everyone enjoy the lakes safely and respectfully, please keep the following guidelines in mind:
1. Property owners who live on the inland lakes may access the water by boat from their own property. Others may launch trailered boats only at locations designated with a B.
2. Non-motorized watercraft and fishing boats with electric motors are permitted on the Association’s inland lakes. Boats with gasoline motors of five horsepower or less are permitted on Westwood Lake only. Boats with larger motors are not allowed. Trailered boats may be launched at designated locations on Horseshoe, West, and Westwood Lakes.
3. Boats must always be operated in a safe and prudent manner.
4. Dams are for pedestrian traffic only. No vehicles of any kind, including golf carts, are allowed on the dams.
5. Please do not park on the entrance road from Highway 356.
6. Trotlines and throw lines are not permitted.
7. Please respect private property. Access is not allowed on lake banks in front of a property owner’s home or lot without that owner’s permission. Please do not walk across private property, play loud music, or leave trash behind.
8. Fishing on the golf course side of the lakes is not allowed during golf course hours.
