Dear Westwood Shores Property Owners,

Westwood Shores POA will conduct a controlled deer-management archery hunt from Saturday, October 3, 2026, through Sunday, January 3, 2027.

The opening hunt will take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 3–4. After the opening weekend, hunts are scheduled every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

IMPORTANT: THIS IS AN ARCHERY-ONLY HUNT

Only compound bows and crossbows are permitted. Guns and other firearms are strictly prohibited as part of this controlled hunt. The hunt does not authorize any participant to discharge a firearm within Westwood Shores.

For the safety of residents, guests, pets, and participating hunters, please follow these precautions during scheduled hunting periods:

  • Do not walk, hike, jog, or enter wooded or undeveloped areas.

  • Keep children away from wooded areas and designated hunting locations.

  • Keep pets indoors or secured on a leash. Do not allow pets to roam freely.

  • Remain on established roads, sidewalks, golf paths, and developed property.

  • Observe all posted signs, barricades, and restricted-area notices.

  • Do not approach, distract, or interfere with an authorized hunter.

  • Do not enter a hunting area to retrieve a pet, ball, or other item. Contact Access Control or Constable Cole for assistance.

  • Drive cautiously and remain alert for wildlife, authorized hunters, and official vehicles, particularly around dawn and dusk.

  • Avoid wearing brown, tan, or white clothing near wooded areas during hunting periods. Brightly colored clothing is recommended when outdoors.

  • Do not place food or corn near hunting locations or interfere with any approved feeding area.

If you hear gunfire, remember that firearms are not permitted in the controlled hunt. Do not enter the woods or attempt to investigate. Call 911 if there is an immediate safety concern and report the incident to Access Control or Constable Mark W. Cole.
