Yesterday, during the collection of household trash, a chemical reaction in the compactor section of one of our trash trucks occurred. Upon investigation, it appears that a hazardous chemical had been placed in the regular household waste. This resulted in four of our maintenance employees having to seek medical attention.
For everyone’s safety, please do not dispose of hazardous or flammable materials in your household trash. These substances can pose serious risks to our workers, equipment, and the environment.
In the future, we ask that you dispose of hazardous or flammable chemicals properly by following your local hazardous waste disposal guidelines.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in keeping our community safe.
Sincerely,
Bradley Burkeen
